BMW E38 7 Series (1994-2001)

The BMW E38 is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful luxury sedans ever produced, praised for its timeless design, elegant lines, and understated sophistication. Manufactured between 1994 and 2001, the E38 was the third generation of BMW's flagship 7 Series, and it set new standards in luxury, technology, and performance for executive sedans during its time.

General

The BMW E38 boasts a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette with a perfect balance of form and function. Its design exudes sophistication without being overly ostentatious, combining classic BMW elements like the kidney grille and sharp body lines with modern, refined curves. Many automotive enthusiasts and critics consider it the epitome of luxury sedan design from the 1990s, with its minimalist yet authoritative presence on the road.

The BMW E38 featured a broad range of engines, catering to different performance preferences. The engine lineup began with a 2.5-liter inline-six that produced 143 horsepower, providing a smooth and reliable driving experience for those seeking sole efficiency in their luxury sedan. At the top end, the 750i(L) featured a 5.4-liter V12 engine that delivered a commanding 326 horsepower, offering exhilarating performance for a car of its size. This engine platform was tweaked by ALPINA, AC Schnitzer and MVR to boost the E38's power in the range of 400+ hp.

As for the extras, the E38 had lots. It is certainly the most factory- customizable BMW of the 90's, given that the individual programme allowed the buyer to essentially chose it's own color combinations, upholstery, even custom extras, pretty much without any limit. Buyer ordered, BMW delivered. We dedicated an entire section describing the most exciting extras/options available, upholstery choices,  as well as a coverage of the very rare tuner-made versions - E38 ALPINA, E38 MVR - Martin Veyhle Racing, E38 AC Schnitzer, E38 Karl Lagerfeld's L7, etc.
